FAQs about transfer credits
Transfer credit evaluations are completed by the transfer credit & pathway agreements coordinator. Below are frequently asked questions about transfer credits. Have a question that is not listed? Contact our transfer credit & pathway agreements coordinator: advisor@mta.ca.
When do I get my transfer credits?
The transfer credit process will begin once you have been accepted to Â鶹ÊÓƵ Allison. The process will not be completed until the registration deposit has been paid, and official, final transcripts have been received.
Can I still take a course for which I got credit?
Yes. Some students choose to repeat courses for which they receive credit, particularly in their intended field of study. In this case, simply enroll in the course at Â鶹ÊÓƵ Allison. Your transfer credit will show as a repeat, but that is ok. It is very common for students to repeat transfer courses.
How to I register for courses with prerequisites before I get my transfer credits?
You'll not be able to use transfer credits to register for courses with prerequisites until your credits have been added to your Â鶹ÊÓƵ Allison transcript. Students are strongly advised to register for courses as soon as possible. Course registration can be adjusted once your transfer credit assessment is complete.
If you have questions about registering for courses before your credits are transferred, you can contact an academic advisor: advisor@mta.ca.
How are transfer credits recorded on my transcript?
Transfer credits will be recorded with a grade of P (Pass) or CP (Conditional Pass) on your Â鶹ÊÓƵ Allison transcript.
For prerequisite requirements:
- Transfer credits with a grade of P qualify as equivalent to a grade of C- for purposes of fulfilling prerequisite requirements
- Transfer credits with a grade of CP can't be used to fulfill prerequisite requirements
Non-designated — often applied to transfer credits, means that the credit value is recognized and granted for the course even though no Â鶹ÊÓƵ Allison offering was selected as the direct equivalent. Non-designated transfer credits are not recorded with a grade on your transcript.
Transfer credits are excluded from your Â鶹ÊÓƵ Allison grade point average calculations.
